Need to Give Priority to Education in Algerian State Budget

Algiers - Special Rapporteur on the right to Education Kishore Singh emphasized on 27 January, 2015, in Algiers the importance of setting up a special legal framework, likely to give priority to education in the Algerian state budget
"Despite the huge efforts made by Algeria in the development of the education sector which has priority in view of the budget devoted to it, it is necessary to consolidate the relative legislative framework," Singh before the members of the National People's Assembly (APN)'s Committee on Education, higher Education, Scientific Research and Religious Affairs.
"This framework will allow defining the minimum level of the budget which must be allocated to Education, whatever are the circumstances," he added.
The UN Rapporteur stressed that "the deputies have a role to play to improve the situation of education."
Concerning the segment of professional training, the same official recommended the adoption of "a dual system" applied in several countries, and which is consists in obliging the economic companies to offer training to graduates from centres to enable them to acquire experience and know-how."
He believed that this measure was intended to "promote vocational training."
The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education Council arrived Monday in Algiers, had earlier listened to a report of the members of the committee on education development in Algeria.
The UN official also met with Minister of Education, Nouria Benghebrit and should meet with the ministers of Higher Education, Training and Vocational Education and Religious Affairs.
